There is a clarion call for the action of compassion. Social justice issues pervade every spectrum of the global society we live in today. As young people, we have come to understand that the first step is to generate a cause for concern among the youth. It is only when they feel that it is important enough for them to care about, or when they feel like they are able to make a change, that they will develop an opinion.

The concept of an experiential conference serves as an effective tool to create a healthy and safe environment for youth. Beyond gaining knowledge on social issues, participants will be given a chance to be engaged in productive debate and discourse- forming constructive and individualized ideas.

The final piece for the participants will be the gaining of crucial research and presentation skills which is ingrained in the posture of the conference. Eventually, it is our hope that the participants will grow as individuals, not just in terms of skills, but also growing in sensitivity of the issues around our world and their role in society. This is of utmost importance in our ever-changing world.

A generation of compassionate youth. A generation of change.

The Amber Initiative Youth Conference (AIYC) is centered on the idea of developing opinions and speaking up for them. Our aim is to create an environment whereby the youth are compelled and pulsated to take action on an impending imbalance, injustice and indignation. However, also developing within them the responsibility of a thorough understanding of the issue before actively taking assertive steps to change. Participants are engaged in various talks by internationally renowned activists and speakers which will instigate them to explore their roles as young people, and the possibilities that await them. It is when a vision is born that there is a voice to be heard.

“The Conference was awesome! But when our gifts were destroyed, my life changed forever. I never realized I was so selfish” - AIYC'10 Participant

“The sharing from Jit (Rescued Victim of Trafficking) has impacted me greatly. Her story was shocking.” - AIYC'10 Participant
